The Shabby Chic style started in Britain and evokes the type of decoration found in large country houses where there are old sofas and curtains with floral drapes, worn and faded furniture, old paintings where the second color shines through and an unpretentious humble taste. The end result of shabby chic is an elegant style “spoiled” but elegant, unlike the pop-Victorian much more rich and dark, with dark and shiny period furniture. The original shabby chic interiors were generally considered works of art in themselves.
